Custom programs are specially developed with clients to meet particular goals and criteria.

Groups range from 8–14 people.

6. How was Passport 2 Purpose created?

For more than two decades, the authors helped organizations, schools, churches, and businesses start effective and enduring mentoring programs for children, teens, and adults. Each time, we defined questions that we wanted to help “mentees” answer.

A stark reality hit home every time. Even we adults were hard pressed to answer the questions we wanted children to answer: Who are you, really? Who do you want to become? What are your beliefs and values? Do your actions line up with your beliefs? Do you have a sense of purpose or destiny for your life? Who is writing your life story? Do you make a difference in the lives of others?

We discovered that most of us were not living balanced and healthy lives. We lacked knowledge and strategies to define our beliefs and values, to own personal boundaries and enjoy healthy relationships, and to recognize and manage our feelings. We agreed that we were lost in life — we needed help to take control of our lives, find our sense of purpose, and feel excitement and joy again.

The Passport 2 Purpose book arose from the experiences and workshops provided for families, teachers, mentors, and mentees over these years. Retreats, workshops, and courses are a natural way for helping youth and adults utilize the book and begin the journey of learning, reflecting, and taking back the pen to be the author of their own life stories.

7. What is Michigan Reach Out (MRO)?

MRO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It oversees all aspects of Passport 2 Purpose programs, consulting, and services to promote mentoring and community coalitions. It also retains authorship rights to the book.

8. Who leads retreats and workshops or teaches courses?

Retreats and workshops are co-led by the three authors. Courses are taught primarily by the author who has been a teacher in previous lives in schools, universities, corporations, and government-sponsored programs.

9. What will we do at retreats, workshops or courses?

Relax. Reflect. Learn. Plan.

Each program is designed to help you embark on a journey that will open new ideas, knowledge, skills, and strategies for living your life with purpose and joy. We try to provide peaceful settings and opportunities for you to enjoy nature.

You will have opportunities to learn with the whole group, share with break-out small groups, and go off by yourself for personal reflection time.

Passport 2 Purpose is both your “textbook” for the day and, more importantly, your personal journal where you can write down discoveries, memories, thoughts, goals and strategies to move forward.

More than anything else, you will be given the gift of time!

  • Time for learning and sharing
  • Time for self-examination
  • Time for reflection and writing in a journal
  • Time to create a plan to get from where you are to where you want to go in life
  • Time to relax and “chill out”!
